Satellite Image of Clear Creek Drainage Basin
The majority of Colorado’s population and 9 of its 10 largest cities lie along the Front Range on the western edge of the Great Plains. The population of these Front Range communities is estimated at more than 4.3 million. This number is expected to increase by 50% within the next 20 years, putting increasing pressure on the foothills, and on Clear Creek Canyon. The satellite image below shows the drainage basin as it flows from the Continental Divide to the west, to the city of Golden and Denver to the east.
